Origins

The history and legacy of watchmaking in England heavily influenced Peter Speake’s early career from antique restoration in Piccadilly, to a deep love and fascination with historic marine chronometers and early English pocket watches.

Timeless simplicity

The timeless simplicity and elegance of antique pocket watches and later vintage wristwatches inspired the clean aesthetic of the Tsuba Blue, whilst blued hands and screws that denote a connection to antique and historic watchmaking as seen in the H4 marine chronometer, inspired the spirit of the Tsuba Blue.

Difficult to make and forged for function, blued steel extends across hands, screws, and movements creating a legacy aesthetic, but blue also appears in other ways across more recent English icons. Painted black to hide the dirt from pollution and continuous exposure, the Big Ben clock was recently restored back to its original Prussian blue, revealing an iconic aesthetic.

Heritage of blue

Inspired by these icons, Tsuba Blue’s distinctly English classic index and hand design is combined with modern techniques of printing on sapphire to give a visual depth to its dial details.

The heritage of blue - an enduring aesthetic, born from function, made by craft, reflecting traditional elegance, and embodied in the spirit of Tsuba Blue.

Editions
